Teen & Kid Closet was honored in Washington DC as an Angel in Adoption. Washington's 5th District Representative, Cathy McMorriis-Rodgers nominated TKC for the award because of the organization's dedication to families in the foster care system.
The award is presented by CCAI (the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Issues). For 21 years, it has honored individuals and organizations whose contributions in the fields of adoption or foster care have an impact on a national scale. People from all 50 states and Washington DC received awards on November 14th.
TKC co-founders Linda Rogers and Robyn Nance Griep and Board President Sean Grubb went to the nation's capital to attend Angels events, including a resource fair, panel discussions, a day at the Capitol and a gala.
While meeting with the congresswoman in her DC office, McMorris-Rodgers told the 3 that she was proud of them for seeing a need in the community and doing something about it, so faithfully.
The TKC leaders also met with a representative of Senator Patty Murray's office to talk about issues facing foster and adoptive families.
Teen & Kid Closet has clothed children in foster care, kinship care, and those in poverty for more than 12 years and has supported thousands of families.
